If you’re already on Facebook will be a big blow to the back. You have already an important step in building your online business made. If you’re not on Facebook, what are you waiting for?

More and more that are never online and do all the social networks are Facebook, with the signing. Some want to try to connect with their past and others connect with their future. But if you use Facebook to build a business, or if you want to stay with people from your past (as if you were in high school, past the elementary school!) Do your best “face connected to set” follow the online watch world.

If you joined Facebook and have no idea what to do, take a look at the following eight proposals. This is an excellent place to start.

Tip 1: Use a fairly good

Facebook allows you to upload as many photos as you like, but you’re only allowed a profile photo, be sure to make an actual picture of you! You can also have potential supporters (or other businesses), a picture that you look comfortable with everyone and helps you to Put your Best Foot Forward to choose. As much as you want, do not use an image to this part, you just follow that because a little out of control, because even if you can guarantee your privacy settings are taken, no matter, everyone sees your profile picture.

Tip # 2: Share and share alike

When filling out your profile, be sure to fill your things such as “Favorite Music.” Your taste in music says a lot about who you are, then your list of favorite bands to your profile in Music “Favorite” section. Do not let those who say: “I like almost everything.” BORING!

Are you on Facebook, to show people that you are so specific and the names of artists and, possibly, album title. A common tactic to your iTunes on the play “Count” or “Last Played” is tab-based sort, then copy what you see. These suggestions apply equally to your favorite movies and books sections.

Although you can not, can the landing of any use of the recording of your music, movies or the book of interest to someone you find a connection with the same interests and the opportunities that do not end.

Tip 3: The more the better

For those of us up in the pre-Facebook grew, I know it can be embarrassing to go to old friends and say, “You be my friend?”

Well get over it, because the social network can begin only if you are a community of good size, who know how you belong! Once you start the community of new friends and contacts can joined. They are also much more of a random person (or two) that you knew in elementary school looking for exactly the product or service to listen to you.

Tip # 4: Give it to the wall

Although most of us got into trouble for writing on the walls like children, Facebook wall is scrawled certainly something you should do (and it is a good label)! Write on a Facebook wall, one of the easiest and has the best communication tools at your fingertips.

Because the wall is open and everyone can see them, you want to follow a few guidelines for the display.

Do not leave any personal information (like your new phone number or e-mail)

Do not write any sensitive correspondence (such as anger you your significant other or parent).

Do not tell stories about the wild weekend that you took (you know, where you can not remember everything, but there are images that you prefer not to see).

Keep the fun and interesting comments, but leave your sensitive controls for personal messages or even e-mail.

Tip 5: Connect the dots

Whatever your needs (business or personal), it is always a good idea to add it to your blog or your Twitter account to your Facebook page, if one or two. This is made easy by the various Facebook applications that pull in content from across the Web directly on your page.

Instead of manually add your last blog post in Facebook automate things (and save time) by going an application on the latest news, if they live on your website / blog to share. The more you update, the more your friends on your page that is somehow the essence of social networking back.

Tip 6: Join the Network

What is a network, and why should you care? A network can remove a group of people from places as far as your school, company, city, or a hobby, to love you. Networks can be almost anything.

Adding a network to give you the freedom to manage your privacy settings on the site. By selecting your network, you can the visibility of your profile in different networks. For example, you can let people in your town to see your contact information as you can give full access to all of your transactions.

Tip 7: Avoid Facebook prevail “

Now that you’re connected to everyone and everything, it is important to remember that yes, you have a job! Social networking is fun, but everything in moderation. Remember to configure your e-mail notification, so you will not be attacked by hundreds of updates on Facebook.

To set your notification via e-mail settings, click the Account menu and then “Notifications” and you will be greeted with a huge list of events Facebook. To disable the e-mail when you receive a message, set the radio button Off.

However, if you “Facebook Fever”, you can open the door to non-stop updates, by clicking on the “Mobile” tab and activate your phone. Once you do this, you will receive friend requests, messages, updates on your mobile phone

Tip 8: Be vigilant

As with any place other popular Facebook (and other social networking sites) have their share of crooks. You can find these usually in the form of Spam e-mails and messages posted randomly on the wall. Take part will not open links or files or messages from people who do not know you Facebook. Also be careful, links on your wall seems to not appear legitimate.

We hope that this list of eight tips will turn his stake in Facebook, but if you need further assistance, please contact me for help.

Social networking is definitely seeing a reshuffling of its top players.

Facebook and Twitter are in, MySpace is out, according to Experian Hitwise.

The Internet monitoring company reported last week that Facebook, the No. 1 social network in the U.S., grew its share of all the visits to social-networking sites from 19 percent in September 2008 year to 58.6 a year later. That’s a more than 190 percent increase.

Over the same period, Twitter’s share jumped from 0.15 percent to 1.84 percent, and the service now ranks as the fourth largest social network.

Ailing MySpace, which is scurrying to remake itself into an entertainment portal, is still in second place behind Facebook, but scores of users have begun walking away.

According to Hitwise, MySpace can still boast 30 percent of the social-networking market, but the site is in freefall. Last year at this time, MySpace captured 66.8 percent of the market.

MySpace is hunkering down to develop more compelling music and video services, but it needs to emerge quickly from its chrysalis with something attractive to offer.

Once the traffic goes, then content owners–such as the musical acts that promote themselves on the site–may be the next to flee.

Overall, U.S. visits to social networking Web sites rose 62 percent from September 2008 to September 2009, according to Hitwise, which tracks 155 such sites.

I use the Facebook a social networking giant, not only single day, but most of the time I spend on Facebook. Once in a while I get new friends and sometimes I even communicate with friends using Facebook. I still think that Facebook is one of the best social networks around. Many time I use Facebook for promote my blogs too.

Are you want to use Facebook to promote your own blog?

If you are using Facebook as a marketing tool to promote your blog, I’ve compiled some tips on how to best take advantage of this highly visible and growing service to promote your blog:

If you are willing to use Facebook to promote your blog, you can use different “integrated” applications.

Go with what (or who) you know. Chances are, you know many people that have Facebook accounts already. Whether they are close friends, acquaintances, old business contacts, or college buddies, all of them will now see your blog. Can’t find them all by name? Married (name change) since you last spoke to them? No problem. You can find friends just by logging in to any number of different email accounts you have (i.e. Hotmail, Yahoo, Gmail, etc). You can also add friends through AOL Instant Messenger, or by importing your desktop email contact file.

Make your blog more visible on your profile. Sure, you can start by adding your blog site to your profile. This only gets your friends in the door, and calls no attention to your individual posts. The true power of Facebook is the number of great 3rd party apps that go on the Facebook platform. A very good 3rd party app to get your individual blog posts right on to your profile is Blog Friends written by I-Together. You can even add in your friend’s blogs as well as friends of friends:

Facebook Groups. You have the ability to create Facebook groups. One more piece of promotion in your marketing arsenal.

RSS Feeds. Not only can you put on a link to your blog and individual blog posts, but you also have RSS feeds right from your Facebook profile as well.

I am not sure, well, it all depends on what kind of blog you are writing. If it’s a blog where you are trying to earn money and sell various products, then Facebook might not be the place to promote it. The reason for this is that your friends on Facebook are also many of your real friends. At least I wouldn’t want to expose them to all sorts of marketing techniques in order for me to earn some extra cash. But this decisision is up to you.

Just do a search for WordPress (if that’s the blogging platform you are using) and on the results you will see at the top a headline for applications. Just click on that one and you will get a list of the available applications for WordPress at Facebook.

If I was going to promote my blog this way, I would probably chose the application that will show my feeds inside Facebook. It will show a mini-feed of your latest posts to all your Facebook friends.

If you have a lot of friends at Facebook, showing them your mini-feeds would probably be a great way to promote your blog. But again, I would only do it if I think my blog was of any interest to them.

Did Google owned Orkut miss a trick in India, by not partnering with more Indian companies? Inside Facebook reports, basing their findings from Facebook’s advertiser tools, that the social network saw a significant increase in the number of active users to almost 3.2 million over the last 60 days:

Inside Facebook has reported a similar trend for Brazil, another country where Orkut is the dominant social network. We’ve noticed a significant increase in activity from Facebook in India over the last few months, which co-incides with the increase in the audience growth depicted in the chart. Key among them is the amount of airtime that it has received as a part of an advertisement for Aircels “Pocket Internet” service. Aircel has focused on value added services like Mobile Internet for its launches in Delhi and Mumbai, and both Facebook and Yahoo Onesearch have received TV airtime as a consequence of this. One of the famous ZooZoo’s commercials from Vodafone in India also promoted Facebook.

Apart from this, Facebook has actively partnered with Indian companies -particularly mobile operators – and inked deals with Internet companies around key events like the Oscars and the Indian Parliamentary Elections:

Feb 2009: Partnership with Zoom TV and World TV for the Oscars in India. From what we’ve heard, there was a partnership with NDTV for the same, but that is unconfirmed.

April 2009:

– Goes mobile in India for SMS Alerts with Tata Indicom
– Partners with Aircel for Voice Message Application, allowing users to leave voice messages on Facebook, according to this forum post of a press release. (note: unconfirmed)
– Facebook promoted in a Zoozoo’s commercial by Vodafone (view the commercial)

May 2009

– Launches Indian language interface
– Partners with Nautanki.tv for coverage of the Indian Elections
– Promoted in India by Aircel as a part of their Pocket Internet Service, particularly during the Indian Premier League, a key Cricket event. (view the commercial)

From what we’ve heard, there’s something planned around the Union Budget in India as well.

This is not merely a two-way fight though – Twitter’s slowly gaining in prominence with several media companies also adopting Twitter for promotion of their content; recently, all of UTVi’s anchors joined Twitter, and they regularly mention their Twitter IDs on the channel. MIH (Naspers) and Tencent owned Ibibo has also regularly partnered with media companies for cross-media promotion.

We haven’t heard much about Orkut of late, apart from the launch of a mobile application, and the launch of advertiser tools; in terms of partnerships, one of the few that we are aware of is with MTV India for their popular Roadies show.

Compared to Facebooks claim of 3.2 million active users, Orkut claims 13 million – it does appear to have the largest base among social networks in India, but certainly shouldn’t get complacent. That said, while usage is one thing, monetization of social networks is another story.

Social networking giant Facebook is planning to once again overhaul its privacy controls.

Chief privacy officer Chris Kelly said in a company blog posting that the new privacy options would be designed to simplify management while giving users greater control over what information is shared with others.

“The power to share is the cornerstone of Facebook,” wrote Kelly.

“Privacy and the tools for tailoring what information is shared with whom are at the heart of trust.”

To increase privacy, the company is offering users a single page from which privacy settings can be applied. Additionally, the company is planning to integrate a single drop-down menu for posted items which will allow users to set access rules on the individual items.

Privacy settings have long been a point of contention between Facebook and its user base. In 2007, the company touched off a privacy outcry when it unveiled the controversial Beacon advertising tool. More recently, the company was forced to backpedal on its terms and conditions.

The social networking site itself has also been a hot-button issue in the enterprise IT field. While administrators and managers worry about the security and productivity risks of Facebook and other networking services, users also run the risk of embarrassing photos or postings being spotted by current or perspective employers.

There’s no doubt that Facebook is developing a Web payment platform to rival those of Google, Amazon and eBay (PayPal). But Facebook may also be looking to crack one of the biggest nuts in the online payment world, which is mobile. Facebook spokesperson Kathleen Loughlin confirmed reports that the social networking site has hired Prashant Fuloria, a former Google employee who worked on Google Checkout; given Facebook’s obvious focus on mobile Web applications, Fuloria’s direction is clear.

The principal roadblock to facilitating mobile payments is the mobile carriers themselves. In order to charge customers, sites can pick from two equally deadly poisons: allow customers to charge products or services to their wireless bill, which is transparent and easy but costs the vendor close to 30 percent of the transaction price; or else they have to ask customers to pick a payment method like a credit card or a PayPal or Google Checkout account. Mark Curtis, CEO of dating and social networking site Flirtomatic, told me that the size of transaction fees collected by carriers means he can’t sell real goods unless customers don’t know what the price ought to be. Men might be willing to pay 30 percent above market rates to send flowers to a new girlfriend, but that’s about it. The other poison — using a payment system — stops the transaction cold, unless customers have already used it on their mobile devices on this particular site.

This is where Facebook’s payment platform comes in. Facebook has over 200 million active users (people who have visited at least once in the past 30 days), which means the odds are very great that a mobile user will already have an account. And Facebook has established a close relationship with its base — a relationship tempered by the heat of what can only be described as lovers’ quarrels over basic issues of trust and privacy. I have absolutely no problem imagining that its members will trust Facebook with a payment platform that they can then use to pay for goods sold by vendors across the Web using Facebook Connect, which is used by members to “combine their Facebook experience with any participating Website, desktop application or mobile device.”

Note that even back in December, Facebook’s release emphasized the mobile aspect of the feature. Despite the many roadblocks, customers have demonstrated a greater willingness to pay for products and services using mobile devices than traditional Web-surfing devices, Curtis of Flirtomatic told me. And where Facebook is concerned, he agreed that “mobility is a critical part of what they’re looking at.”

One more indication of the importance Facebook places on mobile: the fourth person on the company’s organizational chart, after CEO Mark Zuckerberg, and ahead of COO Sheryl Sandberg, is Chamath Palihapitiya, the company’s vice president of growth, mobile and international.

Despite its size, or perhaps because of it — and how it got to be so big — Google hasn’t come close to establishing the kind of stranglehold on payment systems that it has on search; PayPal is painful for vendors and customers alike, which explains why it hasn’t caught on despite being the only obvious choice for so many years, and Amazon hasn’t given anyone a compelling reason to sign up unless they’re buying directly from Amazon. Facebook has a massive user base and a compelling reason to sign up; that it hasn’t rushed a payment system to market shows how important it believes this to its future. And unlike Beacon or design issues, this isn’t something that members will forgive and forget if the site gets it wrong the first time.

A beta version of Facebook’s publisher gives users more control over who can see their content. The move is meant to improve security and privacy on the social networking site.

Facebook is testing out granular privacy controls for its users that will allow them to exercise more control over who sees published content.

Just recently, Facebook made a beta version of its publisher available to some of its users that allows them to configure the settings for who can view their information. The new capabilities allow users to configure settings to display certain content to just their confirmed friends, their friends and members of networks they belong to, “Friends of Friends” or everyone.

The new settings are an attempt by Facebook to improve privacy and increase security, and to address complaints by users that they could not control who could see their status updates.

“You may have some posts you want to share with a wide audience, such as whom you voted for or how great the weather is today,” blogged Facebook engineer Olaoluwa Okelola. “Other times you may have more personal updates like your new phone number or an invitation to join you at your favorite restaurant for dinner that are meant for only close or nearby friends.”

Forrester Research analyst Chenxi Wang agreed that the settings add a needed level of privacy for the average user.

“I’ve got personal friends on Facebook and also business associates,” Wang said. “These days I give a talk at a conference and afterwards I’d get three or four Facebook friend requests from audience members, people I don’t really know. I’d very much like a private profile and a public profile to differentiate between inner circles and other, more loosely connected, individuals. And this new settings would allow me to do that, which is great.”

When it comes to enterprise IT security, the new privacy controls may not do much to assuage concerns about social networking by employees. However, limiting the amount of public information out there may make the social engineering aspect of phishing trickier for attackers.

“From an enterprise’s standpoint, one potential implication is that since there will be less private information out there, phishing attacks via Facebook will be more difficult,” she said. “That’s good news for enterprises. But on the flip side, it’s more difficult for HR folks to do Facebook background checks, which is a downside.”

Well, here’s an innovative way to get some buzz: FBHive, a new blog devoted to the discussion of all things Facebook, has debuted with the revelation that its creators have discovered a hack that can expose some crucial profile data.

No, it won’t expose your personal photos or wall posts. But, FBHive says, it can bring up all the “basic information” that you have entered into your profile, even if you’ve elected to keep that information private. This is the section that includes location, gender, relationship status, relationships (significant other, parents, siblings), political views, religious views, birthday, and hometown. That’s enough to be a problem in the identity theft department, as it could easily expose frequent password hints like dates of birth and mothers’ maiden names.

Security holes are nothing new to social networks: last year, Facebook plugged a leak that exposed members’ protected photos via the Facebook mobile site, and another hole was discovered about a year ago that exposed members’ birth dates.

Admirably, FBHive has not shared the details of the newly discovered hack; more disconcertingly, it said Facebook has done nothing since it alerted the social network to the issue earlier this month.

“We are not malicious hackers, by any means, and our skills are far from advanced,” the post read. “We here at FBHive are fans of Facebook, but when a security hole as big as this is discovered and brought to (Facebook’s) attention, it shouldn’t take 15 days to fix.”

A Facebook representative said the company is currently “looking into” the matter and will have more information soon.

Facebook has released a beta version in Persian of its entire site, the social networking Internet site based in Cambridge, Mass., announced.

“Since the Iranian election last week, people around the world have increasingly been sharing news and information on Facebook about the results and its aftermath,” Eric Kwan, a Facebook engineer working to translate the site, posted Thursday. “Much of the content created and shared has been in Persian — the native language of Iran — but people have had to navigate the site in English or other languages.”

The change means “Persian speakers inside of Iran and around the world can begin using it in their native language,” Kwan said.

Protests have been happening daily since the June 12 election in which President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was declared the landslide winner over his nearest challenger, Mir Hossein Mousavi, prompting cries of ballot fraud. The Iranian government has cracked down on media coverage of opposition rallies, and installed firewalls to hamper or block access to Internet social networking sites such as Twitter, YouTube, Flickr and Facebook.

He said development of the Persian version wouldn’t have happened so quickly “without the more than 400 Persian speakers who submitted thousands of individual translations of the site.”

New data this week shows Facebook Inc. has grown into the biggest online social networking site in the U.S. as the dethroned No. 1, MySpace, revealed Tuesday it is downsizing its work force.

Reports from comScore and the Conference Board this week both showed Palo Alto, Calif.-based Facebook has grown larger than it Los Angeles-based rival.

The comScore report for May showed Facebook with 70.278 million unique visitors in the U.S. compared to MySpace’s 70.255 million. The lead is even bigger worldwide, with MySpace at 123.2 million unique visitors last month compared with Facebook’s 307.1 million.

The Conference Board report on first quarter online users in the U.S. showed Facebook with an even larger lead, with 78 percent of social network participants, followed by MySpace (42 percent), LinkedIn (17 percent) and Twitter (10 percent).

Facebook said June 16 that its users are now exchanging 1 billion chat messages a day using a new service it introduced last year.

MySpace, owned by News Corp. (NYSE: NWS) said Tuesday it will cut 30 percent of its work force (about 400 jobs), getting down about 1,000 workers.

Jonathan Miller, CEO of Digital Media at News Corp., said, “MySpace grew too big considering the realities of today’s marketplace.”
